Default Discovery bay with Kids

Hi,
We are due to move to Hong Kong from the UK, and I wanted to get some thoughts on Discovery Bay. Is it nice to live in with the kids, and what is the International school like? I found out that the class sixes are quite big(25 children), is that the norm in HK? Also, I can't seem to find Day nurseries......only pre-schools. Are there Day nurseries, where the kids can go all day?
sorry for all the questions, I am just a little worried for the kids.

thanks,
Astrid

We decided not to move to DB b/c of schooling. DBIS is supposed to be very good but has a debenture construction and my husband's company doesn't want to do that and DB College had only a handful of spots left for a large number of children. However, I did get my oldest in Sunshine House (preschool up to 5 yo) without many problems, they do have extended days but not full days (until 5 or 6). Once they get older you can look at afterschool activities. Full day nurseries are uncommon since most people have helpers. Class size sounds about right, ESF is even 30. In the end we decided to stay on HK Island, and we're happy here too. It worked out for us.

Hi everyone

I am really interested in moving to either DB or Tung Chung but was slightly put off by the lack of good schools. I have decided (albeit a bit late in the process) to apply to Discovery College for my twins who will be eligible for Grade 2 next September. I know from other people's comments that chances are, they will unlikely get in but its worth a shot, I guess, just to see what the response is from the school. If they get put on wait list then fine. We can move once we know that the kids have a place. If anyone can give me some thoughts and/or advice on this subject, can you please let me know? Much appreciated!!

I don't live there and have only visited twice - but in the SCMP there's been some coverage lately about the 16% -> 64% rise in Ferry fares that the company that owns & manages Disco Bay is asking for.

You might want to consider the transportation issues for your family in light of this.
